Recognizing that the HTIC classroom is largely “without walls,” students are also involved in the exploration of the larger Hawai‘i community so that “textbook learning” is applied to real life.
Today we went to the Pancake House with Nick for our field trip. I shared blueberry pancakes and strawberry waffles with Satsuki. So we could enjoy two different tastes. They cost me just ten dollars totally. I didn’t order a cup of coffee or tea because I thought they were not good for my health and I wanted to enjoy the pancake’s taste and waffle’s taste. I am getting fatter. But it was a good chance to experience a local style. I ordered them in English and enjoyed the mood in the restaurant. I would like to take my family there someday. Hawaii is good to relax. I want to take especially my mother because she works hard every day. I also want to help her with her housework and her job even if I am not good at that. I can improve such my life skills as doing laundry, cleaning our rooms, and cooking food through my life in our dormitory.
