This is my first attempt at playing a J.S. Bach piece on solo harmonica. I will be hosting a free harmonica clinic/workshop at Easy Music Center this Sat., March 28, 2:45-3:45 p.m. Here's a link to the official site and the workshop/clinic (I'm featured in the middle of the page). Hope to see you there.

As many of you know, Yoshika will not be returning to HTIC. She will be continuing her studies in Taiwan. I arranged a farewell party for her with my LAB class and it was a very emotional event. Yoshika was very popular among her peers and there were many tearful good-byes. Everyone in the class said something special about her. She, in turn, gave a wonderful talk about each of her fellow classmates. You will be missed, Yoshika, but definitely not forgotten. Good luck inTaiwan!

This was one of the The Soul Surfers' last recordings. Sofie had left the band and we had Deanna join us for this session. The rhythm section was still the same: Nilo (guitar), Per (bass), and Patrick (drums). We had rehearsed four songs for this session and Deanna improvised to all the songs (with mixed results). This song was also recorded in the studio where ABBA recorded their great hits in the seventies. The funk vamp in the verse was something that I came up with and that we used to open and close our live shows. It really fit the arrangement of this song. Per's bass solo is outstanding as always and Patrick really lays down a steady groove.

This song was really fun to do. I basically maxed out on distortion and recorded my first and only take of this completely improvised song. Be ready for some heady rock grooves.

I wrote the musical changes to this song and Sofie Geiryd wrote the lyrics and vocal melody. The vamp to this song came to me at a music store in Stockholm, Sweden, when I was trying out an acoustic guitar. Per added an amazing bass line and Patrick laid down one of his incredible drum grooves.

This song was composed by The Soul Surfers (Nilo, Per, Patrick) with lyrics by Sofie. This song features a sax solo by Lars (Larry).

I wrote the changes for this ballad and Sofie (Sunshine) wrote the lyrics. The song features Sofie's singing, Per's Bass playing (and nice solo), and patrick on drums. I play guitar on this track.

This is one of my favorite compositions. I wrote the entire song in one sitting. Sofie really makes the song her own.

This song was composed by the Soul Surfers and features a sax solo by Lars. The song was recorded in the very studio that the famous Swedish super group ABBA recorded their hits in the seventies! Before laying down this track, we were lucky enough to listen to and see the great young Swedish jazz virtuoso, Esbjorn Svensson, jamming away on the piano in another recording space in the same studio. Esbjorn's own jazz trio - EST (Esbjorn Svensson Trio) - is redefining "European" jazz and watching EST perform live is pure magic. Check them out on YouTube.
