Hey there College Prep instructors.  Do you have students write journals or other weekly assignments?  Have your students do it by blogging!  You can even have them make podcasts(which in this case means audio or video blogging).  Any blogs they really like can be added to their portfolios directly.  If students are too shy to share publicly or with the HTIC Community we can set access to private, and there may be a way to arrange it so only teachers can see their student's blog. Ask more about it.Foot in mouth

Have your students keep oral journals. Post your lectures online. Hate writing, like talking, then tell them. In just 5 minutes you can be set up to podcast with an easy-to-use audio recorder and the HTIC Student Portfolio System.

1. Record and export your Mp3(audiio file) wiith Audacity, free, open-source software aleady installed in computers in the PC Lab and Library.

2.  Then add your Mp3 to the file repository in the student portfolio system (this system!), and post  to your blog adding the file.

3.  Remember to set access restrictions to public, or logged in users.

(If you only want your class to hear your podcast, or your students only post their podcasts to their teacher, then you can use Moodle. Ask more about it. )

Unbelievable how easy and fast this is!!!

Adding files to this portfolio system is useful for storage but if you really want to showcase your work I recommend doing it by making a "presentation".  BY clicking on the "Your Presentations" button at the top, you can make new presentations , and add files, blog posts, and text to them.  For example, I would make a presentation for each class I took and add all the work I did in the class to the presentation.  You may also add descriptions of each item and reflections of your work and you can order it anyway you like.  Put together, the presentation part of this system allows you to create a cohesive narrative  that showcases your progress.
